ArtSpace Herndon is pleased to announce their January exhibit, “Quilts: Collaborative Art by Northern Virginia Quilters”. This exhibit features quilts ranging from the most traditional handwork to the most contemporary of techniques. The exhibit includes a broad range of quilts, including several challenge quilts and art quilts, many of which have won notable awards.
The show includes examples of a variety of piecing techniques and both hand quilting and machine quilting. Some of the quilts are embellished with hand or machine embroidery, appliqué, and hand painting. “An exhibit of quilts and fiber arts is an exhibit I’ve personally wanted to do since we opened ArtSpace,” said Robin Carroll, ArtSpace director, who sews and does needlework. It was a pleasure to work with the quilters that put this show together and assisted with the challenging work of hanging the quilts for all to enjoy.
The exhibition at ArtSpace Herndon will run through February 12th, 2012 in the Post Gallery. For details about gallery hours and directions please check the ArtSpace Herndon website www.artspaceherndon.org or call 703-956-6590 for more information. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
