At the state and local level, the Arts Council represents the interests of arts and artists and communicates the value of the arts to Fairfax County. The Arts Council advocates for favorable arts policies, funding for artists and arts organizations, arts education, public art programs, and cultural facilities in Fairfax County.
The Arts Council envisions Fairfax County as a creative center where artists and the arts thrive and are valued as essential to the County’s character, sense of community and economy.
Our MissionThe Arts Council is the recognized voice of the arts in Fairfax County, dedicated to fostering a dynamic and diverse local arts presence and participation. We ensure that artists and the arts thrive by providing vision, leadership, advocacy, funding, education and capacity building. The Arts Council is funded in part by Fairfax County, corporations, foundations, individuals, and the Virginia Commission for the Arts, an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
