Video Fairfax inspires K-12 students from Fairfax County Public Schools to learn new media skills through hands-on participation and a juried competition by industry experts.
The program is supported in part by Fairfax County, Cox Communications, Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts, and Fairfax Public Access.

The Video Fairfax program began in 1991 in order to promote student interest in film production by encouraging them to gain more experience in working with the art medium and exploring creative ideas through film. Ultimately, the competition seeks to leave students with a sense of personal accomplishment.
The annual Video Fairfax Awards program is held in various locations accross Fairfax County. Cox Communications, Fairfax Public Access, and media experts help present cash awards and certificates in four age group categories. Film clips of all the finalists, as well as the entire winner’s films, are all screened during the awards program. Winners will receive a cash award and Cox Communications will be making the winning entries available for viewing On Demand.
